ALBERT EISTEIN

Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany on March 14, 1879. As a child, Einstein revealed an extraordinary curiosity for understanding the mysteries of science (started only at age 10/11). A typical child (only to his socio-economic class — educated middle class), Einstein took music lessons, playing both the violin and piano — a passion that followed him into adulthood. Moving first to Italy and then to Switzerland, the young prodigy graduated from high-school in 1896.In 1905, while working as a patent clerk in Bern, Switzerland, Einstein had what came to be known as his "Annus Mirabilis" — or "miracle year". It was during this time that the young physicist obtained his Doctorate degree and published four of his most influential research papers, including the Special Theory of Relativity. In that, the now world famous equation "e = mc2" unlocked mysteries of the Universe theretofore unknown.

EUPHEMISM

euphemism is a generally harmless word, name, or phrase that substitutes an offensive or suggestive one. Some euphemisms intend to amuse, while others intend to give positive appearances to negative events or even mislead entirely. Euphemisms also often take the place of profanity. The opposite of euphemism roughly equates to dysphemism.

Categorization :

  • Abstractions and ambiguities (it for excrement, the situation or "a girl in trouble" for pregnancy, going to the other side for death, do it or come together in reference to a sexual acttired and emotional for drunkenness.)
  • In directions (behind, unmentionables, privates, live together, go to the bathroom, sleep together)
  •  Mispronunciation
  • Litotes or reserved understatement (not exactly thin for "fat", not completely truthful for "lied", not unlike cheating for "an instance of cheating")
  • Changing nouns to modifiers: e.g. ...makes her look slutty for "...is a slut", right-wing element for "Right Wing").

THE EXAMPLES OF EUPHEMISM IN TO SOFTEN AN EXPRESSIONS

Euphemisms to be Impolite

In some cases, euphemisms are intentionally a grosser or less pleasant way of saying something. These are usually used when people are being sarcastic or trying to make light of a serious subject or make it seem less serious.
Examples include:

AL-HIJAB

In class, i got a task which is i need to find some video that similar to the story of plato's myth of the cave. As i wrote in my blog before this, i had found the video AL-HIJAB, the malay movie. AL-HIJAB is about the man who got the offered to be actress in horror movie. But, he doesn't have any feeling and do not believe about the ghost until he can saw it. He tried went to the place that have a ghost according the people said but when he went there, there's nothing he can see. Until one day, he heard about HIJAB which is when it be opened, the man can see the ghost. To open his HIJAB, he needs to see the old lady in the village. He went there and the old lady brought him to one place which is many ghost at there. The old lady ask his permission to opened his HIJAB and he just obey with that. After his HIJAB was opened, he feel hurts in his eyes and then when he opened his eyes he can see the ghost. He was very excited although sometimes the ghost make him shocked. Then, the old lady asked his permission again to close his HIJAB because only the old lady can closed it. But,the man refuse to close it and request the opportunity from the old lady to give him a chance to see the other ghost. The old lady agreed with the request and told him to see her in a few days to close the HIJAB. At the end of the story, when the man could not stand with his eyes that can see the ghost everywhere, he went back to the village and want to see the old lady. When he was arrived at there, he got know that the old lady was died. He was very shocked because the only one who can closed his HIJAB is the old lady.

The object that symbolizes in this story with the plato's myth are :

  2. The chains : HIJAB
  3. The shadows and the images : The ghost that the man can't see

SYLLOGISM

Syllogism refers to logical reasoning where you arrive at a conclusion by looking at two other premises or ideas.(NOUN)

The Basic Elements

The standard syllogism must contain three and only three propositions, two of which are premises; the other is the conclusion. The two premises and the conclusion share three and only three terms. In the syllogism above, the three terms are men, mortals, and SocratesSocrates in the conclusion and the second premise; mortal in the conclusion and the first premise; and men (or man) in the two premises. Each appears twice, but never twice in the same proposition. Each term must mean the same thing, that is to say must be univocal. For example, "mortal" in the conclusion and the premise must mean the same thing. Thus, a syllogism is an argument having two premises and a conclusion with the subject term of the conclusion in one of the premises, the conclusion's predicate term in the other premise, and a third term in both premises. The third term of the premises must never appear in the conclusion.

In class, i have to prepared my own syllogism. This is my syllogism regarding to the cases of Julius Caesar :

Caesar is an ambitious
Though the poor have cried,Caesar have wept,
Caesar brought Captives,
home to Rome,
Thus, Caesar is not an ambitious man.

The other example of syllogism are :
  •  All mammals are warm-blooded, all black dogs are mammals, therefore, all black dogs are warm-blooded.
  • If you know all squares are rectangles and all rectangles are shapes, and you deduce from this that all squares are shapes

  • Some mammals are cows, all humans are mammals,so, some humans are cows.

PLATO'S MYTH OF THE CAVE

Can you imagine yourself live in the underground cave with a long entrance without knowing the outside world?Could you live with the legs and necks chained which is you cannot move and only can seen the wall in front of you? It is impossible for me to live like that.

Plato's myth of the cave is about a group of people who have lived chained to the wall of a cave all of their lives, facing a blank wall. The people watch shadows projected on the wall by things passing in front of a fire behind them, and begin to ascribe forms to these shadows. According to Plato's Socrates, the shadows are as close as the prisoners get to viewing reality. He then explains how the philosopher is like a prisoner who is freed from the cave and comes to understand that the shadows on the wall do not make up reality at all, as he can perceive the true form of reality rather than the mere shadows seen by the prisoners. One day, one of the prisoners had been freed by an old man who sympathizes with his condition in the cave. After he was escaped, he begin to stand and turn around to look the source of the light. At first, his eyes feel hurts because in the cave, he only seen the shadows which is projected on the wall for years and years not the light. So, it is something new for him. The old man said to him that what he had seen before it is just his illusion not reality. The old man point out that the statues and not the images are real but he is stubborn and insists that the shadows are much true than the statues.
